If the tooth decay is limited to the first two layers, it can be corrected with filling/ restoration. In case, it reaches the third layer and causes inflammation or infection of pulp, a Root Canal Treatment or Endodontic Treatment is needed.
The x-ray and diagnosis conducted by your dentist will tell whether you need a root canal or not. In case, you are having a consistent painful tooth, especially when you chew food, you need to pay attention to the situation and get yourself assessed by a dentist.
When Do You Need An RCT?
- Pain in the tooth when chewing or biting food
- A discolored or dark colored tooth
- Swollen, tender gums around a tooth
- A sore on gums that won’t go away
What To Expect?
Once the root canal treatment is completed, the treated tooth will heal within a few days. Patients might experience some pain once they get their sense of feel back after anaesthesia; this is likely to end within a few days due to medication.
Most root canal treatment can be successfully completed by our dentist in a single day. In certain cases of serious infection or back tooth, our dentist may give 2-3 days appointments for finishing the treatment.
